Veneers

Veneers: Pros and Cons of Installation. How to make your smile beautiful?

Veneers are a modern method of micro prosthetics, the purpose of which is to restore the aesthetics of teeth. The aesthetics of your teeth can be compromised due to various reasons - due to a chip or crack in the enamel, discoloration of the teeth, the presence of small gaps in the row, or even a slight curvature of the teeth.

Ceramic Veneers

Natural Look Teeth need to be shaped

Zirconium Veneers

More durable and thinner Teeth need to be shaped

Composite veneers

Light and durable Teeth shaping is not necessary required

Lumineers

The thinnest type of veneers Do not require tooth shaping

A beautiful and snow-white smile for many years

Ceramic veneers and lumineers correct defects, do not stain and even protect your teeth!

Indications

  • chipped teeth,
  • gaps in the dentition,
  • cracks, hypersensitivity or underdevelopment of the enamel,
  • change in the shade of the enamel,
  • slight violation of the position of the teeth.

Contraindications

  • thin tooth enamel,
  • serious malocclusion,
  • bruxism or teeth grinding,
  • the presence of old fillings (veneering is possible after their replacement),
  • caries (prosthetics is carried out only after careful treatment),
  • traumatic sports

What are the advantages of veneers and lumineers?

  • natural restoration of the aesthetics of teeth, without the need for other procedures: alignment, whitening,
  • teeth whitening for many years - veneers do not darken, do not change their shape,
  • restoration of both a group of teeth and only 1-2 teeth is possible - the colour of the material is matched to the shade of natural teeth,
  • protection of the front teeth of bacteria, caries,
  • reduction of enamel hypersensitivity.
Veneers and lumineers have certain disadvantages. For example, composite on lays require regular polishing and last about 3-5 years, eventually losing a little aesthetics. Ceramic veneers usually require a portion of the enamel to be ground down for better adhesion to the teeth. As for lumineers, they are aesthetic, incredibly durable, and in extremely rare situations require teeth shaping.

WHAT are veneers?

Veneers are thin shells on the teeth. They accurately follow the anatomical shape of the frontal surface of the tooth, and also have a small shoulder that will cover the incisal edge - thus the onlay holds better and the esthetics are restored better.
Composite Veneers Ceramic Veneers Zirconium Veneers
Are made of composite materials that harden under the influence of light. They are installed in one visit in a direct way - that is, the material is applied directly to the teeth. Designed to hide defects such as chips, enamel cracks, and gaps between teeth. They serve for 5 or more years. They are created from ordinary or pressed ceramics according to impressions previously taken from the teeth. Indications for their use are almost all the problems that were listed above. Allow to achieve the highest aesthetics, and serve for more than 10 years. They are created from thin zirconium. Designed to change the shade of the enamel and the position of the teeth, to hide chips and cracks. They are created individually for the patient, which allows them to achieve ideal positioning on the teeth. They will last from 10-20 years or more.

The Marina Dentists clinic uses the most modern materials to create veneers. These are pressed ceramics of the brands E.max, Emplress, Porcelain. Installation technology

  • preparation of natural teeth: carious formations are necessarily removed, plaque and calculus are removed, teeth are whitened if necessary (if the veneer is installed on 1-2 teeth),
  • teeth shaping and temporary prosthetics: if necessary, the tooth is slightly shaped- this is required to level the surface and create roughness in order to better attach the on \lays. In addition, veneers have a certain thickness and it is necessary to ensure that the renewed teeth do not seem too thick to the patient. Impressions are then taken. During the manufacture of permanent veneers, temporary prostheses made of plastic or composite are installed, which will hide the unaesthetic appearance and protect the teeth from decay, and sensitivity.
  • fixation of veneers: the finished onlays are first fixed with a temporary paste so that the patient can evaluate the final result. After a permanent adhesive composition is placed on.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN LUMINEERS AND VENEERS

Lumineers are thinner shells that are developed by the American company Cerinate. Their other name is "Hollywood veneers". Their difference from ceramic or porcelain veneers in the composition of the material (the company keeps its developments secret, but in practice, it has been proven that lumineers last 2-3 times longer), there is no need for tooth shaping(thinner shells), as well as the use of a special composite composition. It provides not only fixation of the lumineers, but also gives them a natural translucency - thanks to this, the onlays look more aesthetically pleasing.

HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR TEETH WITH VENEERS

Caring for teeth with veneers does not imply any special procedures: it is enough to regularly brush your teeth, including rinsing your mouth after each meal, it is recommended to use an irrigator. Dental floss should be used with caution - excessive pressure can peel off the installed veneer. It is also important to reduce the load on the renewed teeth - you should not bite off hard vegetables and fruits or seeds. And even more so, one should abandon such bad habits as biting hard objects. With a careful attitude, veneers and lumineers will last for several decades without the need for adjustments.

Alternatives to veneers and lumineers

Veneers and Lumineers do an excellent job of restoring the aesthetics of teeth. But in certain situations, they may have alternatives. Firstly, these are braces or aligners for serious malocclusion. Veneers can correct a slight curvature of the position of the teeth, but they cannot cope with functional impairments. Secondly, crowns can be an alternative. Their installation is relevant when the tops of 1-2 of the front teeth are severely destroyed, when the onlays cannot be fixed and, to a greater extent, it is the restoration of the tooth shape that is required.
